After several days of suspense I’m thrilled to finally be able to share this exciting news. At 6am this morning I received confirmation that it’s official after last night’s school board meeting…I will be back prowling the sidelines this coming season as the new head boys varsity basketball coach at Manhattan High School! I’m totally stoked to be a part of this prestigious program and ready to make a big difference in the lives of my new squad.

I’ve always recited the words of the great and audacious Nelson Mandela who said, “there is unmatched power in sports.”  Sports have a universal power and appeal that speak to people of all ages, colors and backgrounds in a way that few other mediums can match.  As the new head boys basketball coach at Manhattan High School, my mission is simple: to use this powerful platform to inspire a group of young boys in their quest to become strong, character driven, resilient young men.  From my experience as the head coach at Gardiner High, I believe the potential to inspire these young boys to become better classmates, community members, students, basketball players and most importantly, better people, is without restriction.  As a program, we will embody the core values that each player can take with them in their quest to be impactful teachers, preachers, fathers, husbands, entrepreneurs, leaders and community members.  We will teach this battalion of boys one of the most important life lessons I know: not the need to win each game, but the absolute necessity of preparing to win each day at practice, each time we step onto the hardwood and more importantly, the need to prepare to win in the most critical game they will ever play…the game of life.

Let another audacious journey begin.

On A Mission…Tiger Pride!

With nothin’ but love,

Coach Leach
