Swimming Into Positive Visualization

Swimming Into Positive Visualization

Every Sunday morning I head to the pool for a rendezvous with 2,000 meters of water. Like all of life, some days are easier than others. On brilliant bluebird days like yesterday in Bozeman, it’s hard to go inside to swim, but yesterday, like all days, I emerged better for it.

Swimming is my anti-depressant. Swimming is my way to enhance fluidity and embrace my 70% H20 self. So, what does one do when the thought of swimming indoors proves less than optimal? Visualize.

I’m a believer in the power of positive visualization. Yesterday while swimming, I visualized one of my favorite pools of ALLTIME, the Kona Aquatic Center. It’s a special place. On a recent trip back to the Big Island, I journeyed there everyday. Always with a smile, a “How’s it?” and “Mahalo” to the lifeguards. I’ve heard people compare swimming to yoga, but for me, it’s so much more.

Water is life. This pool is one of the best therapists I know, and I’ve known a few. I wasn’t transplanted back to Kona yesterday, but my teeth got a chlorine cleanse, as I was all smiles throughout my swim, visualizing a pool full of mind calming and spirit enhancing water molecules. A hui hou (until we meet again)…
