Hello, Be Audacious family. We hope this finds you well, in good form and leaning into spring. Spring in our part of the world (Southwestern Montana), means a return of our winged friends, teasings of succulence on the landscape, and a steady dose of long rides on dirt roads in ranch country. It also means wild and fierce winds (like the 35 mph guests ripping our Wyoming flag out front right now), rain and even inches of snow in recent weeks.
Between a big bump in training volume on the bike, a shift to 5:30-7:30 am swim practices Monday-Friday for Kamiah (and daddy) and an increased coaching load (mental performance and cycling coaching), we’ve been trying to stay afloat. Amanda (my wife) just wrapped up a 15 credit semester while working full-time downtown (Bozeman) and this happened last month–we launched a new podcast.
The Bounce Forward Podcast (my mindset, mental and human performance focused show) is still alive and well, though my consistency has dipped from what I’d like to be producing these last few months (but we’ve got shows in the works, we just need some extra hands–ideally with editing skills to help keep the project rolling out smoothly), in part because of the launch of A Joe and A Pro Cycling Podcast.
I’m teaming up with Jesse Smith from Columbus, Indiana, for this one and so far, it’s been a fun one.
Here’s the show’s description, “Michael Leach and Jesse Smith are A Joe and a Pro and in this cycling podcast we bring you a fresh perspective on a wide range (think a 52t cog) of colorful bike banter. We talk bike builds, technology and equipment drops, racing, culture and fresh thoughts relevant to the bike industry. Light, loose and low-key, this conversational show won’t change your world, but it may just change your mind.”
To listen to the show, visit our website https://www.ajoeandapro.com/ and you can find it wherever you listen to podcasts, such as Spotify and Apple.
We’ll hope you’ll give it a listen and spread the word. It’s a fun show with some lively bike banter. I’m going to get another post up here shortly with a link to the bike build video that Jesse and his team from The Bicycle Station filmed, showcasing my new mountain bike and race whip for this year’s Leadville 100 mountain bike race.
Until next time, dig deep, lean in and stay true.
