I met Coach Leach my freshman year of high school playing basketball. Although he wasn’t my immediate coach, he quickly took me under his wing and began personally coaching me. He helped and gave me confidence like no other coach had ever done before. I immediately began to realize that not only is Coach Leach passionate about athletes and their talent, but also who they are as people. Something that is truly rate to find as someone speaking who has had countless coaches over the years. Even though our basketball chapter together closed, Coach Leach still stayed close. I started meeting with him again last spring during my junior track season and he became my mental performance coach. He has continued to be my coach through my senior year and helped me navigate the rollercoaster of sports, but also of life in general. The difference one year has made since meeting with him specifically for my mental performance has been amazing. Now, I don’t solely see myself as an athlete. I know that there is a lot more to me than my performance, specifically my results. I now know that even in the worst case scenario, when in my mind, I have utterly ‘failed’ that I can still come out stronger. These examples as well as several others are just a couple things Coach Leach has helped me navigate through to this point. Coach Leach has an incredible ability of listening, asking good questions, giving good input, as well as validating one’s feelings–pulling it all together to create a perfect combo. I am so thankful for him and could not recommend him enough to anyone, no matter who you are–athlete, student, business individual, or someone who could use being impacted by one of the most incredible individuals I have ever met. ~ Auna Flohr, former GHS Track and Soccer player, current University of Utah student

We are so grateful for Michael. During a crazy time of post season events, he carved out time to meet with my daughter before her high school State swim meet. After battling an injury during the season, she was feeling pretty down and discouraged. Michael was able to turn her thinking around. He helped to give her perspective and a positive outlook heading into the meet. She was able to perform at State with confidence and had an amazing meet, achieving her personal bests and finals in both of her events. I have to share with you. I was talking with bronx and his friend last night about the team dynamics, holding back, FOWOPT etc. I told them some people in your life are gold bars and others are Pennies. The gold bars are rare and special. You take care of them and they are super valuable in your life. The Pennies are all the other people that come and go. Not everyone can be a gold bar because they wouldn’t be as special. Bronx immediately said Coach leach is a gold bar for sure. Thought that was pretty special and fitting as we have had the Olympics on non stop! Anyways hope you have a great day with your girls!!! 🏅🏅🏅

Every team dinner with you was always amped up another notch. You would bring this mindset of mental performance that seemed to both ease the players, but also get them juiced and fired up to play, which astonished me. Even as a coach, I would either be filming your speech, or sitting to the side, but it always seemed to get me fired up and ready for the game. Your persona and flow is like no other. You always found a way to say the right thing, and say it in a manner that got everybody in the room locked in. You are a vital piece to what Gallatin High represents, you bring toughness, character, competition, and juice every single day. You are also our biggest component, family!
