In honor of Independent Bookstore Day, I want to give a shout out to a few of our favorites. We had quite a run with Grizzlies On My Mind & Be Audacious and these bookstores were so good to us—and what an honor it was to speak, sign and read at these independent bookstores that truly represent the best in the West.
A book release is one of the great moments of a writers life and I’ll always be so grateful to the legendary Tattered Cover LoDo Denver and King’s English SLC for hosting the release of GOMM and BA. Teaming up with the Rocky Mountain Library Land Library for the Rocky Mountain Land Series at Tattered Cover was truly a once in a lifetime experience for the release of Grizzlies On My Mind, and the opportunity to present and sign at King’s English for both GOMM and BA holds a special a place in the memory books. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Oh, and a few of these guys made our honeymoon book tour (Colorado and Utah) pretty damn legendary–Out West Books (Grand Junction, CO), Back of Beyond Books (Moab, UT), Boulder Bookstore (Boulder, CO). And I want to give a special shout out to four of our favorite local bookstores here in Montana, NW Wyoming and North Idaho: Country Bookshelf (Bozeman, MT), Fact and Fiction (Missoula, MT), Valley Bookstore (Jackson Hole, WY) and the Well Read Moose (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho).
Now more than ever, it’s so important that we support these community icons. And if we can do so, getting real books into the hands of kids and young people, then we are spreading the gift of storytelling and celebrating the life-affirming love of reading. That’s a win-win.
