I know there’s a lot of uncertainty out there right now and everyone’s circumstances are different (and many will feel the fallout from this more than others), but that’s why perspective is so important. So much of life is out of our control, so many of our circumstances are what they are. Perspective, mindset and where we put our focus matters and during times like this it matters even more. So, let’s focus on things we can control: our attitude, our effort, our actions, and our perspective.

Let’s focus on being kind, compassionate and generous. There’s a lot of vulnerable people out there, populations of people who are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus, so let’s not be cavalier about this pandemic (that’s just being an asshole). Let’s be socially conscious and think about the greater good. And let’s not forget about all of the vulnerable populations who are getting hit hard by the economics of this situation (like all of the children who depend upon school meals who’ve seen their school doors close).

It’s all about keeping things in perspective (something our ‘self’ centered society struggles with mightily it seems) and playing the cards we’re dealt to the best of our ability. That’s life. This isn’t a time for me, me, me, this is a time for we, we, we (it should always be about we, we, we). You can crumble and complain about how this is affecting you (vegging out on the couch binging your favorite show), or you can adapt, adjust and reload, turning the focus, finding the good. Let’s map out how we’re going to turn this time into a positive personally and for our families, and perhaps for our community (while practicing social distancing of course). Let’s celebrate the little victories throughout the day. For us that looks like crushing a morning spin, making good food, baking good bread (gf), reading good books, binging old episodes of Survivor, winning plank contests, writing good stuff, banging out emails, listening to NPR and Island Radio, being cozy and cuddly and loving hard on each other, while being grateful for what we have (because there’s a lot of people in straight up survival mode right now).

Turn the focus my friends. If you do, a lot of good can come from this time and a lot of joy (love) can be celebrated.

Head up, eyes forward, feet moving. We’ve got this.

Take care, be well, and stay healthy!

With nothin’ but love, MWL
